Book Club Questions:
All students must answer question depending on the current reading week.
Directions:Choose 2 questions.
All responses must be a minimum of 2 - 3 sentences (unless otherwise stated). (A paragraphs is a minimum of 5 sentences, but you can write more if you need to) *Note: Questions for week 4 & 5 may be intermingled if the pacing is limited to 4 weeks Week 1:1. What are your thoughts on the book so far?
2. Do you know the genre of this book? Is this new to you? 3. Do you like it? Why or why not? 4. Do you think that the protagonist (main character/MC) is capable of achieving their goal? 5. Where you hooked from the first sentence or did it take you a while to get into the story? 6. What are your thoughts regarding the character’s relationships? 7. Do you have any ships, if so who? 8. What POV is used? 9. Based off of first impressions, did you like the main character(s)? Why or why not? Week 2:1. Do you like the protagonist’s (MC’s) attitude? Why or why not.
2. Do you think that the antagonist (villain) is misunderstood? 3. Do you think the antagonist will achieve or at least achieve a portion of their goal? 4. If you were in the protagonists/antagonists situation what would you have done or done differently? 5. What are some themes that the author shows you so far? 6. As of now which character do you connect with the most? Why that character? 7. Which character is most similar to your personality? 8. Which character is least similar to your personality? 9. Are there any characters that you find annoying? Why? 10. Do you think that the use of flashbacks aids or hinders the story? 11. Based on the location of the story, would this be a place you would like to visit? Why or why not. 12. Did you have the need to reread any paragraphs or passages because they didn’t make sense the first time? Did it make sense or were you still confused? Week 3:1. What are your thoughts on the book now? Have your opinions changed, how or why?
2. Create a playlist of songs that would fit the story so far. (Minimum 4 songs, title and singer/group) 3. If you were in this character’s situation what would you have done? (Pick a situation and explain Minimum of three sentences.) 4. Are there any themes or situations that make you feel uncomfortable? 5. Pick a scene and rewrite it. (3 sentences minimum. Change the outcome, location, situation, etc. Be creative) 6. Was there a paragraph or passage that stood out, an “Ah-ha” moment? 7. How do you feel about the romantical interest? 8. Do you feel that the current ships complement each other? 9. Where you expecting that plot twist? 10. How do you feel about the role friendship plays in this book so far? 11. Do you feel that the character is basing their action on emotion or logic? 12. What is your favorite relationship between two characters in the book? Explain why it is your favorite. (They are sassy with one another, keep roasting each other or because they have such a strong bond etc…) Week 4:1. Who are your OTPs? (One True Pairing)
2. Write down one of your favorite quotes? Why is it your favorite? 3. Would you befriend the protagonist or the antagonist? Why? 4. Which character would you like to meet in real life? 5. Do the characters seem believable and realistic to you? Why or why not? 6. If you could have another person’s point of view, who would it be? 7. Do you think the story would have been better if it was written in another characters POV? Why? 8. Do you think that the title fits the book? Why or why not? What book titles would you recommend? (Give at least one example even if you agree.) 9. How do you feel about the book? Are you frustrated, is there something that is bothering you? Week 5:1. What was your favorite event/scene from the book?
2. Who was your favorite / least favorite character? 3. Would you read another book by this author? Why or why not? 4. Do you think the book cover fits the book/does the cover correctly convey the main idea? 5. Did the author do a good job with the world building? Was it well developed or lacking in some areas? (Name the areas if there are any.) 6. Was the pace of the book too fast or too slow? Or was it captured just right? 7. What question you would ask the author? 8. Did you like the ending? Do you think it could have been better? How would you rewrite it? 9. Create an “If you like this book . . . then you will also like . . .” list. (3 book titles minimum) 10. Create a recap of the story using gifs. (post on goodreads.com) 11. Would you have read this book if it had not been chosen for the book club? 12. Would you recommend this book? Why or why not. |
